A More Complete Statement From Bedfordshire Police on #Dorries vs Tim Ireland.

Filed under: Uncategorized — madaxeman @ 3:01 pm

Bedfordshire Police statement:

Officers from Bedfordshire Police have looked into a complaint of stalking/harassment in May 2010.

Both parties involved have been spoken with to determine whether any offences have been committed.  A man attended a voluntary interview and was given advice about his behaviour, he was not arrested or given a police caution.  At no time did either party have their internet activity or communications monitored. No further police action is planned.

In light of the above, I will be interested to see whether either Nadine Dorries MP, or the Conservative Party (who were made aware of the situation but refused to act), have enough about them to actually apologise for the claims that have been levelled, unfairly, against Tim Ireland.
I guess this is where we find out if certain honourable members of the House are, well, all that honourable…

  1. “Given advice about his behaviour”. In other words, he was told on tape to stop harassing women.

    • … and just how exactly have you arrived at that conclusion?

He was, as I understand it, merely given advice about how he might avoid confrontations with Dorries. He certainly wasn’t told he couldn’t continue to attend meetings she was at, or contact her, or anything like that. My original motivation for contacting the police directly was Dorries’ comment that Tim had been told to stay out of Bedfordshire – as someone who has a keen interest in civil liberties I decided to call out the police on that directly. During the ensuing conversation, the matter of the “advice” cropped up – and foreseeing the problem I explicitly asked them “Were Tim to ignore your advice and contact Dorries, would this have any impact on his standing with the police?” They said no. They then reiterated that they merely offered the usual advice they always give to try to avoid confrontations.

I really don’t think Dorries is the victim here – I am convinced Tim is.
